Old Pastry Recipes In New England

Some foods traditionally prepared today were made a long time ago in Europe. Today, most of those old recipes are adapted and changed, but some are still prepared as they were. Every region has its own tradition, and here you will find some of those really popular pastry recipes in New England that can be made really easily, and taste great.

One of those simple and generously tasty recipes is known as the Boston Cream Pie. Easy to make, not expensive and containing simple ingredients, this little dessert is really popular. For making it, you need 2 separated eggs, one and a half cup sugar, 2 1/4 cup sifted cake flour, three tbs of baking powder, a touch of salt, one third cup sunflower oil, one cup of milk and vanilla sugar.

Make snow of two egg whites and one half cup of sugar. Dry ingredients should be sifted together first, and then you should add egg yolks, milk, vanilla and oil and make a mixture. Egg white snow should be gently mixed in. Grease and flour the pan, pour in the mixture and bake on 350F for maybe 20 minutes. This time depends on the size of your pan. Cool for ten minutes or so and remove from the mold.

For preparing the cream, you need one third cup sugar, one egg, three tablespoon flour, one quarter tbs.salt one and half cup milk and one table spoon of vanilla. Mix these ingredients well together and cook until thicken. Stir all the time. Remove from the heat and stir in one table spoon of butter. Cover the pan and let it all to cool. Slice the cake, fill it with your cream and pour the chocolate glaze over it.

For tasty Chocolate glaze you will need 1 1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate, 2 tbsp. Butter, 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp. Vanilla and 3 tbsp. Of water. Combine water and sugar and let it melt over low heat, stirring constantly. Melt in chocolate, and add vanilla. At last, add butter and remove from heat. It should be of pouring consistency. Pour quickly over cake and spread evenly over top and sides.

Maple Apple Crisp is something you can make in no time at all, and you will love it. You just need to peel and slice four large apples, add four tbs lemon juice, 1/2 cup maple syrup and ground cinnamon, approximately one tea spoon. Let it all rest aside until you make the topping.

Take one cup of uncooked Quaker rolled oats, 1/3 cup of flour, 1/2 cup almonds, thinly sliced, two tablespoon of vegetable oil and the same quantity of maple syrup and mix it all together with one tablespoon of high quality almond extract. Mix well and let rest for a while. Now, back to your apples. It's time to take care of them.

You should preheat your oven first. Put prepared apple mixture in it. Cover everything and bake maybe 40 minutes. The apples should be soft by then. Then, cover them with prepared almond mixture and return everything in the oven, for another 30 minutes or so, or until the topping becomes crispy. This easy dessert combines perfectly with your favorite ice cream, as well as with vanilla ice cream.
