Tasty Traditional Australian Food Recipes

There is no doubt, Australians are the first to say that they have some of the best food. However, one has to debate as to whether all of the food is in fact theirs. For example, the Pavlova may belong to the New Zealanders. With that being said, much this food that is made is incredibly tasty. Traditional Australian food recipes are worth looking into because there is a large variety.

The foods vary from healthy meat from and emu. This can be used for a pizza topping. There are other topping used for a meat pie that are very popular. Cakes and biscuits are a favourite among the people in Australia. One of these is Pavlova which is usually made for a big celebration. There are biscuits that go back a long way. Some of them are gourmet and others are more filling.

The Anzac biscuit is famous in these parts, providing one with a snack of oats and coconut with a little golden syrup. This biscuit dates back to World war one when groups of the Anzac soldiers were fighting. Wives of the soldiers would make these biscuits. It was a good snack to have in your pocket because it can last a long time and you can be sure that it is going to fill you up.

Australians love their barbecues. One things that attracts them to the outdoors and the smell of fresh meat is the barbecued snag. This is something that really attracts the crowds. It is any kind of sausage which has been spiced and flavoured with herbs. Afterwards, one will grab a roll and a sauce of their choice. Fried onions can make this even more appealing.

The damper has been around since the beginning of time, starting off as an inexpensive food for workers and people without money. It could be easily made, but now it has been turned into a bread which is made to be more milky. Back in the day, the bread was baked on the fire, but things have advanced since those days.

Cakes and biscuits are a keen favourite. Some of them go back a long way and some of them have been recently invented and have spread their wings all over the world. For example, the Anzac biscuit is a fine example of a great snack that goes back centuries which lasts a long time and will basically fill you up. This was made especially for soldier in the World War one to help keep them going.

When you think of pea and ham soup, you will usually think of British and their culinary skills. One doesn't usually think of an Australian chef inventing this comfort food. However, the adaption comes into play because of the meat that they use. This relates to sausage, such as frankfurter which are tasty and have been done properly beforehand.

Chicken parmigiana can be found in all of the pubs in the country. It is a dish that began in Italy, but has been modernized as it moved down to Australia. It is basically a chicken schnitzel with a sauce made up of tomato and cheese. There may be ham or prosciutto with the schnitzel as well. This is usually served with a beer and the two go very well together.
