The Bordeaux region of France holds a very pleasant secret, the place where you can find St Emilion wine being made. This area of the port region had long been planted with vineyards by the Romans in the second century and is now a leading producer of red wines.

The area yields about 36 million bottles for red wines alone. And the producers use Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes planted on soils rich with limestone. These grapes are said to ferment really fast that it takes just about 3 years to produce some types of wines.

Due to the industry present in the very old place of Bordeaux, it was recognized by the UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites. In fact, the area is quite preserved. You can still see the ruins as well as churches created during the time of the Roman glory.

No wonder why the French have such an impeccable taste for wines. They are even known to drink wines during meals as complements for their main courses. The popularity of wines among them prompted studies to be conducted about its health effects.

It was found out that red wines are rich in polyphenols or antioxidants. Antioxidants are needed to combat the damages caused by free radicals that hasten the aging process. No wonder why wines are now already used as beauty regimens to keep the skin younger looking.

Not only that, wines when drunk moderately can render a person to be less susceptible to cancers, heart diseases, stroke and body inflammations. The resveratrol that wines have makes also a good substitute for estrogen in menopausal women.

To get to know st emilion wine, tours are being organized by advocates to educate people more about the product. It also provides us more information about the roots of the products and the wonders that the Bordeaux region has to offer.
