Do you know Angel food cake, Red violet cake, devil food cake and Dundee cake? All these are various types of cakes that can be seen in various parts of the world. As a matter of fact, there are many different types of cakes for specific purposes and occasions. For example, chocolate muffins are the best for birthday and wedding programs. They have different tastes, colors and designs.

Angel cake originated from the United Kingdom. The major ingredients for it include flour, sugar, icing, vanilla extract and eggs. Angel cake is actually different from the other type known as Angel food cake.

North America is home to the Angel food cake. This one tastes nice especially when made with aromatic sauces such as mace and cloves. Sweet fruit sauces can also be used in place of some aromatic ones or combined together. The major ingredients for this sponge cake are wheat flour, cream of Tartar and egg white. It can be prepared with either Bundt pan or tube pan.

Another type is the devil food cake, which originated from the United States. The main ingredients for it include flour, butter, egg whites, beets and cocoa solids. The cake is loved for its moist, airy, rich chocolate. This cake uses more baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to make the pH level high and increase its mahogany color. Devil's food cake is some how similar to the red velvet cake.

If you have been to cupcake bakeries for cake, you would have likely seen the red velvet type there. Red velvet cake started in the US. It is made by combining ream cheese icing, sugar, butter milk, butter, cocoa powder, vanilla and beetroot in their right proportions. The common colors for this cake include red-brown, bright red and red.

Dundee cake is another UK brand. It is specifically from Scotland and was first created by Keiller's Marmalade Company. It is a fruit cake made of currants, sultanas and almonds. These fruits make it have one of the most alluring flavors and taste among the other ones. You can find Dundee cake in supermarkets throughout the UK.

There are many different types of cakes that make use of sweeteners like honey and sugar. The essence of adding the sweeteners is to aid consumption. Sugars can be obtained from monosaccharide, disaccharides and polysaccharides. On the other hand, honey is a natural type that is formed when bees release an enzyme that reacts with the nectar they collect from the nectar of flowers. Some of the kinds of honey include alfalfa honey, clove honey and eucalyptus honey.
